General Motors, Ford and Chrysler all reported double-digit U.S. sales declines in February, reflecting signs of a possible slowing economy (or perhaps, lessening demand for gas guzzlers).

Toyota and Nissan also reported sales declines, while Honda actually did the best among major automakers with an increase of nearly 1 percent in February sales.

GM’s sales slid 16% thanks to weaker demand for large trucks like the Chevy Silverado, or SUVs like the Tahoe and Saturn Vue. GM said it would cut second-quarter production by 5% from year-ago levels.

Ford sales fell 10% and will cut second-quarter production by 10 percent. Ford is also facing weaker demand for its F-Series cash-cow, as well as the Explorer and Expedition SUVs. More »

Motor showrooms impress us as reliable, serious, expensive and reputable seller. Everywhere they write and say that buying the car from auto dealer you will avoid numerous risks and be satisfied with comfortable and cheap service. And the endless campaigns, discounts, beautiful windows, polite and courteous managers and polished show-rooms just shouting: “Buy this car here!”

Inconsiderate customers who do not understand the intricacies of integration, design transactions and obtain credit, are direct victims of enterprising sales managers. The situation was exacerbated with the holes in the law and connivance of law enforcement.

Be sure and shop around and make sure you have any used car checked out by a knowledgeable mechanic (this is basic and a Auto Sales 101 requirement). I was in the market just a month ago to replace one of my families vehicles and let me tell you – there are more choices now then ever. Crossovers, SUV’s, hybrids, etc… But what it all boils down to is what price range you need to be at and whether or not you will be obtaining a loan with a down payment and monthly payments.

Generally speaking most people (95% according to the US Banking Assoc.) will be buying their next vehicle with a loan. New cars will definitely have lower interest rates.
